The most recent catastrophes and (un)natural phenomena are a sign of Nature´s call for serious changes in the way we live. From common citizen to leaders we are all asked to live, work and behave in a more sustainable and responsible way. If we don´t, what can we expect of the future on our Planet?
What if pollution levels in the future will demand artificial production and distribution of oxygen? What if you don´t only have to do your grocery shopping, but you´d also have to get your daily oxygen supply? What if instead of a news app on your mobile device you´ll have an oxygen level tracking app?
o3 is a survival oxygen unit with a wicked message: the urgency and seriousnessto rethink and react; o3 is the product you don´t want to need!
To spread this message we created a future scenario to make you think about it!
If we´ll reach such scenario we designed o3 being a personal unit for your daily oxygen supply. The mouthpiece is easy to carry and individual. The oxygen is provided by compressed oxygens refill units which can be exchanged at your local oxygen supplier. By twisting the refill unit you can adjust the membrane to your lips and control oxygen flow.
o3 is a solution for an extrem situation; o3 is the product you don´t want to have!

Why not use it to colonize other planets? If a planet like mars were colonized, oxygen wouldn’t be readily available, yet with this you could easily produce O2.
Why does everyone choose to think of a pessimistic use for a piece of technology instead of taking an optimistic view?

This project is what I would expect from an uniformed design student.
Instead of fear mongering and creating a project based on manipulated
data why don’t you generate a future scenario based on global cooling
or a temperature that stays relatively parallel to today’s temperature.
Please don’t be a part of the group think mentality that so many fall victim to.

CDUBS – I think you’re missing the point, its not a product to be put into production, or to create fear, or based on manipulated data, it’s a statement by the designer to say (in an extreme case) this ‘could’ happen, and a product like this ‘might’ be needed.
Just as we *may* need to recolonise another planet.
Besides, global cooling is not a theory supported by the majority of scientists of this century…maybe in the 70s…And there’s plenty of information that says the temperature will not stay relative to todays, even without human interference Earth would change temperature anyway….which I’m not saying would definitely effect CO2 to the extent that we’d need this product, I’m just countering your argument….or ‘manipulated data’ as you put it.

I really like this project, because it opens up room for discussions.
It’s a tool to animate people to exchange their thoughts and ideas about global warming. It’s a catalyst to create ways, that something like this doesn’t happend.

A far better delivery design than Mel Brooks version in “Spaceballs”.
